When a breakup still has to share a room.
Minus One is a light-hearted series about two exes who continue living together after their relationship ends. For its first season, we were brought in to shape the art direction and visual language of the marketing, capturing the awkwardness, familiarity and humour of two people who are no longer together but not quite apart either.
The Approach
The tension of the series lies in coexistence. Two individual personalities occupy the same home, the same frames and often the same emotional territory. We used typography as more than information, allowing words and text to become part of the environment itself and allow itself to symbolise the noise, the tension as well as the humour. The content within those typographic layers reflected the characters and their relationship, creating a visual language built from overlap, friction and shared space.
The Solve
Typography became both texture and storytelling device, filling backgrounds with fragments that echoed the dynamic between the two leads. The resulting campaign language felt layered, conversational and slightly chaotic, much like the relationship at its centre. Instead of simply promoting a story about two exes, the visual world allowed audiences to step directly into the strange space between being together and moving on.
